Three questions before a research figure enters a decision

The third column is the one that comes back blank. Blank there means the figure is travelling on reputation.

A four-row worksheet for checking a research figure before using it: the figure exactly as given, what was cited for it, whether a published version of the paper exists, and whether the number survives in that published version.THE FIGURE, AS YOUWERE GIVEN ITVerbatim, includingdecimals.WHAT WAS CITED FOR ITA DOI, or something else?Name it.IS THERE A PUBLISHEDVERSION?Search the title. Journal, year, DOI.DOES THE NUMBERSURVIVE?Same, revised, or gone.A decimal place is a claim, and it needs its own provenance.
